WHAT WE DO

Bury’s Stray Cat Fund are dedicated to the welfare and protection of cats, providing rescue, shelter, veterinary care, and rehoming services for any cat or kitten that is in need.

Our mission is to find our cats their furever homes, and give them the happy ending they deserve!

We pride ourselves on our dedication to the cats in our care, and will do everything we can to secure a happy, healthy future for them all.

  • To relieve the suffering of stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats and kittens by providing rescue, temporary shelter, appropriate veterinary treatment and responsible rehoming into suitable permanent homes.
  • To ensure that euthanasia is carried out only as a last resort and strictly on the advice of a qualified veterinary surgeon, where it is deemed necessary to prevent further suffering.
  • To maintain consistently high standards of animal welfare through both professional veterinary care and the provision of appropriate day-to-day care at the Sanctuary. This includes, where practicable, ensuring that all cats over 12 weeks of age are vaccinated and those over five months of age are neutered.
  • To promote and implement effective population control measures for feral cats through trap, neuter and return (TNR) programmes, thereby reducing uncontrolled breeding and improving overall welfare. All returns are undertaken only where suitable habitats exist, with access to food and ongoing monitoring of welfare.
  • To advance public awareness of responsible cat ownership and animal welfare by providing guidance, advice and support to members of the public, including those responsible for the care of cats.
  • To provide, where resources permit, financial assistance to individuals experiencing hardship, specifically to support the cost of essential veterinary treatment or neutering, thereby preventing avoidable suffering.
  • Through these activities, Bury’s Stray Cat Fund seeks to deliver clear public benefit by alleviating animal suffering, supporting responsible ownership, and contributing to the effective management of the local cat population.
