Giving Up a Cat for Rehoming

Finding a new home for your cat through Bury’s Stray Cat Fund.

REHOME YOUR CAT AT BURY’S STRAY CAT FUND

We understand that the decision to rehome a beloved cat is never easy. Life circumstances change – from financial struggles, housing issues, allergies, to family challenges. Sometimes, finding a new home for your cat is the most responsible and compassionate choice.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE ONLY take cats in WITHIN A 15 MILE RADIUS OF THE SANCTUARY.

We understand that surrendering a cat is a difficult decision. To help us continue providing care for the cats in our sanctuary, we kindly ask for a donation of £50 when you bring a cat to us.

This helps cover essential costs such as food, veterinary treatment, bedding and enrichment. Your support ensures we can continue helping cats in need.

If you have any queries, please get in touch.

THE FIRST STEPS TO REHOMING YOUR CAT

Avoid giving your cat away online – Giving pets away through unverified online platforms can be risky. We’ll help you find the right person for your cat.

Reach out to us – Our dedicated rehoming team can offer guidance, support and may even be able to help directly with placement.

Tell us about your cat – Fill out our rehoming form. The more we know about your cat (age, personality, health, habits) the better we can match them with a loving new home.

Be honest and open – Sharing the truth about your cat’s needs helps ensure a successful match and reduces the risk of your cat being returned.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once you’ve made the difficult decision to rehome, all you need to do is get in touch with us by filling out our rehoming form, and we’ll be able to start the process.

We will want to know as much detail as possible about your cat, so we can make sure that we care for them in the best way.

Please note that we only have a limited number of pens, so we may not have a space available immediately. If this is the case, we will add you to our waiting list and be in contact as soon as a pen becomes available. If you have an urgent need or a deadline to rehome your cat, please include this information in the “Other Information” section of the form.

Let us help make this difficult transition as safe and smooth as possible.

WE WILL SUPPORT YOU
