Coping with Loss of your pet

Losing a beloved cat is heartbreaking — find support and guidance here.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR GRIEF

As with any bereavement, the death of a much loved cat can be devastating and an enormous loss.

Grieving a pet can be similar to mourning the loss of a family member and it is totally normal to feel this way.

WAYS TO COPE WITH PET LOSS

Grief comes in many forms – sadness, anger, guilt, or even numbness. There’s no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline you need to follow. Everyone’s journey is different.

Remember, its OK to grieve. Some owners experience feelings of deep loneliness and isolation. Please don’t worry or feel ashamed – these emotions are perfectly normal.

Share your feelings. You should talk to others. Share your feelings with friends, family, or a pet loss support group

Look after yourself. Prioritise yourself and your wellbeing.

Consider a new pet – when you are ready. When you feel it is time, get in touch and we can help you with the process.
